I think it’s a step in the direction toward mainstream adoption or use of NFTs. Right now, it’s still a niche market. You have mostly crypto whales who own the collections, followed by groups who own/use NFTs. Outside of that, among common folk, NFTs are still a phenomenon and a trendy. Sports marketplaces can expose NFTs to a larger audience and gain some traction for the space as a hole. We see it working well for soccer, Sorare, which is very popular. NBA Hotshots are selling around 30k USD. Without doing some research on WHO is buying these sports NFTS, it is impossible to see if the activity is from normal folks, sports fans, or ETH whales. Free-to-earn, NFTs, Defi farming, and crypto ownership can be introduced to new users through unique mechanisms and creative concepts, but at the end of the day 1% of the population might still own everything, even in crypto. If it can’t be accessed by normal people for normal prices than it’s just another ape yacht club
