blockchain: Web 3.0 vs. Metaverse: similarities and differences
Blockchain academic & analyst.
In your opinion, what are the differences between Web 3.0 and Metaverse?
Well many people get confused on what the Metaverse is, and to put in extremely simple terms, its a new way for people to interact with content online, so instead of interacting with 2 dimensional applications on a mobile phone, or browsing through the web flipping through pages or tabs, these websites are transformed into 3-dimensional objects. So, instead of browsing through an apparel store or an online sports shop, the website is transformed to a 3-dimensional building or mall, where users interact with it as in-game characters or avatars. instead of flipping through pages on a web browser, users will be able to interact virtually and immerse themselves in the virtual building. not only that, they will be able to walk or virtually teleport from one "website" to the other but in 3-dimensions. The next level is integrating Virtual reality headsets which will push the experience to another level where users can then "feel" & interact with objects and other users virtually. So the concept of the Metaverse would be like a more interactive & immersive internet where users will be able to jump from one virtual world to the other. Web3.0 is the evolution of how users control their online identities and digital assets. in Web2.0, which we have been living & experiencing, is where companies and developers develop online products and services, such as social media apps for instance, for users to interact with, but in a centralized manner, meaning the companies own everything on the platform and users have little to no control over the content they create. So web2.0, users create content, companies control the content and monetize it. Web3.0 users create the content, and users control & monetize the content. how? through blockchain & cryptocurrencies. Blockchain enables users online to interact with online services which are governed by a decentralised network of computers, not a single company, with access to these services being totally open and permissionless for anyone with an internet connection & a cryptocurrency wallet. In this setting, users have full control of their online identities & control when and how they share their data with different online applications through their private keys. in Web2.0, the centralized entity controls access to the service, and control user data. in Web2.0 users register to access a service and give up their precious data and content in exchange for convenience of the service. unless they agree to the terms of service, they are bared for access. in Web3.0, the online service is open for access to anyone and no registration needed, so users have full control of their data but at the same time bear the risk of protecting their digital data and assets as they become the only custodians and therefore forego the convenience of centralized services.
What common ground are between the Metaverse with Web 3.0?
With all of this into consideration, the OPEN Metaverse is indeed WEB3.0. An internet with no gatekeepers and centralized entities. An internet that is governed by a decentralized community of nodes that offer open, permissionless, censorship resistant access to users around the world to exchange value and information on their own terms. An internet that is immersive and provide a way to digitally own & transfer data and content freely.

In your opinion, what are the differences between Web 3.0 and Metaverse?
Web 3.0 is actually the "engine" that utilizes innovations came with blockchain. Within this context Metaverse is just new dimension that includes "gaming, cinema, concert, entertainment, social platforms, education, simulation based training" approaches that uses Web 3.0 innovations to fulfill it's purpose. Many things that will be on web but not part of Metaverse, will still be within the context of Web 3. No one is sure about what extend industries will be part of Metaverse idea, but it is certain that huge chunk of internet as we know it (web 2.0) will transform into Web 3.0 idea.
What common ground are between the Metaverse with Web 3.0?
On technological sense many innovations that came with blockchain forms very same common ground of both terms. Every new blockchain idea and solution is instantly considered new candidate module to be integrated on Web 3.0 engine which will power the Metaverse products and solutions.

In your opinion, what are the differences between Web 3.0 and Metaverse?
In blockchain culture and media I think these terms are being used interchangeably and too indiscriminately. The term "Web 3.0" distinguishes a specific type of Internet application, which may or may not include blockchain technology, but must include executable interactivity of programs. The term "metaverse" refers to alternate, virtual or hyper layers of reality enabled by the executable interactivity of programs (usually powered by the Internet). From this perspective, we could say that the technological growth of metaverses or "the metaverse", in the normative sense, is being powered and enabled by Web 3.0 technology.
What common ground are between the Metaverse with Web 3.0?
Web 3.0 provides a specification standard and framework for bringing "the Metaverse" into being. From a blockchain persepctive, this is achieved by SDKs and APIs that connect internet technology with blockchain compatibility.

In your opinion, what are the differences between Web 3.0 and Metaverse?
Web 3.0 appeared before Metaverse. Briefly, Web 3.0 brings a decentralized and fairer internet by enabling the individual to be a sovereign. This can be done thanks to blockchain technologies, and is going to allow for data decentralization and create a transparent and secure environment, in order to overtake the main problems of Web 2.0: centralization, surveillance and exploitative advertising. As a consequence, decentralized infrastructure and application platforms will displace centralized tech giants, and individuals will be able to own their data. Metaverse is a digital reality. It combines aspects of augmented and virtual reality, social media, online gaming and cryptocurrencies, allowing users to interact virtually. Therefore, this means is a different concept than Web 3.0.
What common ground are between the Metaverse with Web 3.0?
As I explained before, the common ground is what it’s related to social media, online gaming and cryptocurrencies. Depending how Metaverse will be implemented, it can be based on a centralized or decentralized approach. If the approach is centralized, Metaverse will be a Web 2.0’s evolution to a digital reality. However, it will be more desirable, from the user perspective, a decentralized approach, which means Metaverse will be based on Web 3.0.

In your opinion, what are the differences between Web 3.0 and Metaverse?
Yes web 3.0 and metaverse hype technology in future Web 2.0 enabled the digital revolution that transformed the possibilities for authors and creators, so how will Web 3.0 transform it again over the next decade? This is a special futurist in-betweenisode on what many are calling Web 3.0 which encompasses virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), the metaverse, and the spatial web. It’s intended to give you an awareness of what’s coming as opposed to specific advice on what to do about it since this really is an emerging area.

In your opinion, what are the differences between Web 3.0 and Metaverse?
web 3.0 is the portal internet gates that let's the user's use to access the world of metaverse while metaverse is the virtual internet world that bind the tangible and intangible process.
What common ground are between the Metaverse with Web 3.0?
the common ground of both is that they need each other to interact one another using codes and system technology, using same network and blockchain to combine and use it as a virtual world

What common ground are between the Metaverse with Web 3.0?
Both give a sense of presence in real-time by mimicking the mechanisms of social interaction. These are between their denizens through conversations, walks with friends, virtual festivals, fashion shows, exhibitions, and much more.

In your opinion, what are the differences between Web 3.0 and Metaverse?
Web 3.0 talks is much concerned about the decentralization of the internet. It gives more freedom to the user of the internet space unlike the other types of web ecosystem like web 1.0 and web 2.0 which was more centralized. Use case can be found in the Ethereum blockchain. Metaverse is much more about augmented reality which is beyond the physical space, examples can be found in Video conferences like Zoom and so on, however i believe the concept also create room for decentralization
What common ground are between the Metaverse with Web 3.0?
I think the issue of non centralization is quite common between Metaverse and Web 3.0. The concept of 'permissionless' is also common among them

In your opinion, what are the differences between Web 3.0 and Metaverse?
In my opinion, the Web 3.0 definition can be expanded as follows: data will be interconnected in a decentralized way, which would be a huge leap forward to our current generation of the internet (Web 2.0), where data is mostly stored in centralized repositories. Then Metaverse is real world simulation that create on blockchain system with emerging technology, like artificial intelligence, and expanded reality, like VR and AR, create versions of their own digital realities.
What common ground are between the Metaverse with Web 3.0?
Metaverse is an extension of our current existence. Think of it as another virtual world that lives in parallel to our physical world — a world that we can freely access through the internet and compatible hardware devices. Metaverse need an open, trustless and permissionless network and Web 3.0 is the best place to do.
