Web 3.0 vs. Metaverse: similarities and differences

Currently, two topics may confuse the reader. Both refer to the decentralized future of the internet and the social sphere.
Web 3.0 is a digital place where we can produce content, share it, and formalize deals. Users will be able to interact with data through artificial intelligence and machine learning technology.
On the other hand, we have got the Metaverse. It refers to a virtual space of the future that allows access to a wide range of entertainment and projects involving the entire spectrum of augmented reality.
At first glance, these two topics are identical, but let's dive into this deeper. Web 3.0 vs. Metaverse

In your opinion, what are the differences between Web 3.0 and Metaverse?

Well many people get confused on what the Metaverse is, and to put in extremely simple terms, its a new way for people to interact with content online, so instead of interacting with 2 dimensional applications on a mobile phone, or browsing through the web flipping through pages or tabs, these websites are transformed into 3-dimensional objects. So, instead of browsing through an apparel store or an online sports shop, the website is transformed to a 3-dimensional building or mall, where users interact with it as in-game characters or avatars. instead of flipping through pages on a web browser, users will be able to interact virtually and immerse themselves in the virtual building. not only that, they will be able to walk or virtually teleport from one "website" to the other but in 3-dimensions. The next level is integrating Virtual reality headsets which will push the experience to another level where users can then "feel" & interact with objects and other users virtually. So the concept of the Metaverse would be like a more interactive & immersive internet where users will be able to jump from one virtual world to the other. Web3.0 is the evolution of how users control their online identities and digital assets. in Web2.0, which we have been living & experiencing, is where companies and developers develop online products and services, such as social media apps for instance, for users to interact with, but in a centralized manner, meaning the companies own everything on the platform and users have little to no control over the content they create. So web2.0, users create content, companies control the content and monetize it. Web3.0 users create the content, and users control & monetize the content. how? through blockchain & cryptocurrencies. Blockchain enables users online to interact with online services which are governed by a decentralised network of computers, not a single company, with access to these services being totally open and permissionless for anyone with an internet connection & a cryptocurrency wallet. In this setting, users have full control of their online identities & control when and how they share their data with different online applications through their private keys. in Web2.0, the centralized entity controls access to the service, and control user data. in Web2.0 users register to access a service and give up their precious data and content in exchange for convenience of the service. unless they agree to the terms of service, they are bared for access. in Web3.0, the online service is open for access to anyone and no registration needed, so users have full control of their data but at the same time bear the risk of protecting their digital data and assets as they become the only custodians and therefore forego the convenience of centralized services.

What common ground are between the Metaverse with Web 3.0?

With all of this into consideration, the OPEN Metaverse is indeed WEB3.0. An internet with no gatekeepers and centralized entities. An internet that is governed by a decentralized community of nodes that offer open, permissionless, censorship resistant access to users around the world to exchange value and information on their own terms. An internet that is immersive and provide a way to digitally own & transfer data and content freely.

In your opinion, what are the differences between Web 3.0 and Metaverse?

Web 3.0 is actually the "engine" that utilizes innovations came with blockchain. Within this context Metaverse is just new dimension that includes "gaming, cinema, concert, entertainment, social platforms, education, simulation based training" approaches that uses Web 3.0 innovations to fulfill it's purpose. Many things that will be on web but not part of Metaverse, will still be within the context of Web 3. No one is sure about what extend industries will be part of Metaverse idea, but it is certain that huge chunk of internet as we know it (web 2.0) will transform into Web 3.0 idea.

What common ground are between the Metaverse with Web 3.0?

On technological sense many innovations that came with blockchain forms very same common ground of both terms. Every new blockchain idea and solution is instantly considered new candidate module to be integrated on Web 3.0 engine which will power the Metaverse products and solutions.

In your opinion, what are the differences between Web 3.0 and Metaverse?

Web 3.0 is firstly an improvement on Web 2.0 internet and it is the technology that enables internet activities to be done on it. While Metaverse talks about futuristic era where computer supported devices generate ways for humans to move into the digital realm.

What common ground are between the Metaverse with Web 3.0?

1. The internet (online)- having to connect to the internet through Mobile network or service provider. 2. Computer and digital devices that serves as a medium or point of contact to the online world. 3. Technology- that phase of revolution that makes life easier. 4. Humans/users that use or will use such technology

In your opinion, what are the differences between Web 3.0 and Metaverse?

The difference between WWW 3.0 and Metaverse (plus DeFi): The "decentralized web", most commonly called "Web 3.0," might best be described as "The [sometimes decentralized] Over-The-Top (OTT) and new Worldwide Web 3.0 wherein the telco/Internet Service Providers are no longer divided (the basis for OTT)." Metaverse, on the other hand, is still encapsulated within the surface and deep webs. Next, we will have the extremely addictive/immersive virtual reality products, such as Facebook Oculus, set to become the most destructive and intrusive technologies the public has ever seen. Now, as for Decentralized Finance... The cryptocurrencies will remain almost incidental to the technologies beneath. There is always more to the story, but this is the simplest way I can quickly describe the (very loaded) topic.

What common ground are between the Metaverse with Web 3.0?

They are intrinsically attached to one another. I think I've already explained this well. But since you insist, and to repeat, the Metaverse will still exist in the surface and deep webs whereas Web 3.0 is still commonly called "decentralized"; however, Metaverse, (again), will remain "centralized" to the extent of the controlling platforms in social media. I have no way to explain all of this without the inclusion of all the extremely advanced engineering considerations I have brushed upon. I just hope some of this makes sense. Have a groovy day.

In your opinion, what are the differences between Web 3.0 and Metaverse?

Web 3.0, and metaverse had remain one of the unfolded latest technology so far. A lot ideas related to each seems to depict the same idea, which is advance users experience on the internet. While web3.0 focuses on making the internet more intelligent, easily accessible, the metaverse is said to be like a virtual environment which one can be in and exist. Metaverse will require extra hardware's, more intelligence and a lot more time to achieve. The web 3.0 is being gradually introduced and a lot of website has been showing a tip of an iceberg of what is to come... I see it that web 3.0 will precede the metaverse, as the metaverse will also embrace the whole of web 3.0 technology.

What common ground are between the Metaverse with Web 3.0?

I see both to be advanced technology, which is something that will evolve gradually. The technologies will involve high level of artificial intelligence and advance user interface.

In your opinion, what are the differences between Web 3.0 and Metaverse?

For me personally, it is not web 3.0 and Metaverse, nor is it Web 3.0 vs the Metaverse. They are Synergis. Web 3.0 IS the Metaverse. A perpetually expanding and omnipresent opportunity for success. Just like the universe with its billions of galaxies so too will be the Metaverse with its abundance of Decentralized opportunities. Without Web 3.0 there could be no Metaverse and without the Metaverse there would be no need for Web 3.0. How will you use your opportunity to create opportunities for others?

In your opinion, what are the differences between Web 3.0 and Metaverse?

Web 3.0 is still the web. It's a virtual place that stays virtual. The Metaverse is supposed to be a combination of virtual and reality with things such as VR and AR. Most recently, Facebook is announcing they are focusing on the Metaverse. They are going about it with VR. The future though, is AR. Escaping the world is nice for games but the uses of AR can go far beyond into the medical and educational fields amongst others.
